Pieter, Rain, Linda and Sarah run Turqle Trading.
It was established in Cape Town, South Africa in 1997.
Turqle has about 140 active products under 6 fair trading private labels and in 2010, launched their own brand - Cape Treasures.
Existing markets are with fair trading organisations in Western Europe: Fair Trade Original, El Puente, Cerro Azul, Claro, House of Fair Trade , Oxfam in Australia and now also at Woolworths in South Africa.
Products are sold in major supermarket chains in the Netherlands, as well as World Shops, Waar Winkels and various speciality food shops.
Turqle works with 11 manufacturers in the Western Cape – from small, family run businesses, to large factories – and there are (+) 490 people employed at these factories.
Turqle is an active member of WFTO (World Fair Trade Organisation), an ethusiastic supporter of FTN (Fair Trade Network) in South Africa, and certified by Fairtrade International (FLO) as a licensee, trader, importer, manufacturer and processor of FLO certified herbs and spices.

Turqle's mission is to create sustainable jobs in South Africa, through trade in fair and ethical food.

It is about building viable, fair trading businesses to grow resilient industries, communities and families.

It is about adding value in South Africa.

It is about creating 'fair' value chains.

It is about trade with long term vision.

It is about integrity and transparency "from the farm to the fork".

2.5% of the FOB price of every product
Turqle sells, goes to the Fair Trade Trust.
Fair Trade Original and El Puente

These funds are used for the education of the workers and pays the school fees of children whose parents work at the factories that supply products into the Fair Trade Original and El Puente.
